    LYDIA. Time of Croesus (?).

    Electrum Stater.
Av.: Foreparts of lion and bull, in opposite directions and joined by their necks.
Rv.: Three oblong incuse sinkings, with geometrical figures.
    14,41 g.

Ref.: Head, Cooinage of Lydia and Persia, pl.I,6. Kraay-Hirmer 590.

    BoC: 17/2, 1992/3, p.12.

FAKE – Comparision with a genuine stater of this type such as in Munich shows how wrong the counterfeit is, e.g. the fur which covers the shoulder of lion and bull alike makes no sense at all.
