MYSIA. Lampsacus.
AV-Stater.
Av.: Laureate head of Zeus to l., over r. shoulder, scepter.
Rv.: Forepart of Pegasus to r.
8,44 g. c. 15 mm.
Ref.: cf. Baldwin, AJN 53, 29. BMFA 1594.
BoC: 20/2, 1995/6, p. 13.
FAKE – A much counterfeited coin type, in this case an old cast. Pegasus´s wing and mane are over-elaborate and there is not the least indication of an incuse square, be it ever so shallow. For better counterfeits of this type see BoC 17/2, 1992, p. 4-5.
